In a surprising turn, the SU Women’s tennis team had a disappointing start to their season, falling 7-0 to Chestnut Hill. There was, however, a commendable performance from first-year players making their collegiate debut. Ali Zapach, from New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock, and Rachel Gallagher from Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg Area, each won a singles game at No. 2 and No. 4 positions respectively. The team, despite their defeat, showed some promising performances from their junior members, with Kendall Winters showing a strong game affiliation. The loss, while disappointing, is not a defeat as the women’s tennis team outline strategies to improve in subsequent games.
