Arctic Cold Front Hits Blair County: Urgent Weather Updates and Travel Advisory

Urgent Weather Update for Blair County and Surrounding Areas

The National Weather Service has issued an urgent alert for Blair County and surrounding areas. An arctic cold front is crossing central Pennsylvania today, bringing with it a number of weather changes that could affect your daily routines and travel plans.

What to Expect

According to the alert, the arctic cold front will be accompanied by one or more broken lines of snow showers and brief heavy snow squalls. Rapid onset whiteout conditions and slippery roads are possible, which could potentially result in a period of treacherous travel. So, make sure you’re prepared if you need to be out on the roads.

In addition, the frontal passage will also bring a few hours of wind gusts of 40-50 mph. So, take care of any loose objects in your yard or balcony that could be blown away.

But that’s not all. Much colder air is expected to arrive later today and stay through the upcoming week. The wind chills will be coldest on Monday and Wednesday mornings. So, make sure to bundle up!

Potential Snowfall

There’s also potential for a couple of inches of snow, especially in the southeast, from Monday night into Tuesday. However, the details of this remain uncertain at this point. So, keep an eye on the weather updates and plan your activities accordingly.
