Weather Alert: A Wintry Mix Begins to Fall in Blair County, PA
According to an update from the Blair County Department of Emergency Services on January 23, 2024, a wintry mix is currently falling across central PA, with freezing rain being the main concern. The update was issued in partnership with the National Weather Service.
The freezing rain could result in slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions, especially along and north of I-80 in Central PA. Drivers are urged to exercise caution while on the road.
Transition to Plain Rain
The freezing rain is expected to transition to plain rain in most areas by Tuesday evening. However, higher elevations might see pockets of freezing rain or drizzle lingering into Wednesday. This might lead to continued treacherous driving conditions in these areas.
Updated Ice Accumulation Forecasts
In an important update, the possible icing amounts have been revised. These changes could potentially affect road conditions and should be taken into account when planning travel.
