Urgent Winter Storm Warning for Blair County and Surrounding Areas

Attention residents of Blair County and surrounding areas! The National Weather Service has issued an urgent final update regarding the first widespread snowfall of this winter expected today and tonight.

Expected Snowfall

According to the alert, a significant snowfall of 6”+ is likely over the interior of Central PA, specifically between I-99/US-220 & I-78. In some local areas, snow accumulation could even reach up to 10”.

Snowfall Rates and Visibility

Be prepared for snowfall rates of 1-2” per hour which are expected this afternoon and evening. This will lead to near-zero visibility and snow-covered roads, making travel conditions hazardous.

Changeover to Wintry Mix

Eventually, the snow will transition to a wintry mix of precipitation across southeast PA. However, before the warmer air arrives, a quick 2-4” of snow is still possible.
