Urgent Weather Update for Blair PA: High Wind Warning and More

Hey there, folks! We have some important weather updates for you today, straight from the Blair County Department of Emergency Services. Brace yourself for some strong winds, snow showers, and potential flooding in certain areas.

What’s Happening?

Apparently, we’re looking at some locally hazardous winter driving conditions over the western Alleghenies and Laurel Highlands, all thanks to the snow showers and strong winds on the backside of the departing winter storm. Frequent wind gusts are expected to range between 40 and 50 mph through the afternoon, with localized gusts even reaching up to 60 mph in the Laurel Highlands. As a result, tree damage and power outages could occur. Moreover, minor flooding is already happening along small streams and creeks in the Lower Susquehanna River Basin.

Important Changes to Note

Post-Event Outlook

But that’s not all! It seems another winter storm will be affecting the area later this Friday into Saturday, bringing with it the potential for multiple hazards including rain, snow, wind, and flooding threats. And to top it all off, the coldest air so far this winter is forecast to hit us by the end of the weekend and is likely to stick around for much of next week.
