Hey there, folks! Just popping in to share some important information from the Blair County Department of Emergency Services-CH and the National Weather Service (NWS) regarding the current winter weather conditions. The NWS has issued an urgent winter weather advisory update for Blair, PA.

What’s Happening?

According to the update, light snow has started falling and is expected to continue throughout the afternoon. However, there’s high confidence that the snowfall rates will remain below 1” per hour. Widespread snow accumulations of 2-4” are anticipated, with even higher amounts of 6+ inches expected in the Laurel Highlands.

The snow will most likely be of a dry/fluffy character and will taper off by this evening across much of the area. However, the fun doesn’t stop there! Lake effect and upslope snow showers will continue into Saturday, accompanied by blowing and drifting snow.

What to Expect?

It’s going to be a chilly weekend, folks! Blustery northwest winds and cold temperatures will combine to produce wind chills in the single digits above and below zero from Saturday morning through Sunday morning. Wind chills at or below -10°F are possible at higher elevations. So, bundle up and stay warm!

There haven’t been any significant adjustments to the snowfall amounts, but the end timing and post-event conditions have been updated.
